Richard Bach wrote a wonderful book called Illusions. It’s an allegory and in that book he tells the story of a handbook for the awakening soul; a person who is trying to awaken to the meaning and purpose of life.
There are several messages in there but one stands out for me and I have always remembered it and that is this line:
“Argue for your limitations and sure enough they are yours”
Argue for your limitations… think about what’s wrong, think about what’s missing. Think about where you have a shortcoming and sure enough that is what gets to show up. So when you find yourself being self-critical today just argue for the fact that God is with you and then there’s a power and a presence that can help you if you let it.
No more arguing for our limitations. Instead we are arguing for the power of God at work in our lives.
