“Meeting Challenges” by Mary Morrissey

Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “If I had a formula for bypassing trouble I would not pass it around. Trouble creates a capacity to handle it. I don’t embrace trouble; that’s as bad as treating it as an enemy– but I do say meet it as a friend for you will see a lot of it, and had better be on speaking terms with it.”

Whatever our challenges are in life right now, they develop in us a capacity for handling them. Don’t fight or welcome them, but just realize that this life has challenges.

I think the exciting thing is that you and I could pick something to read every day that has mind power and a spiritual lesson in it. That might help develop the capacity each one of us requires just to meet our day, and meet these challenges.

Here’s To Meeting Trouble As A Friend,
